WoW Pet Guide

Pets are wonderful creatures in the World of Warcraft. They do multitude of tasks which make them as must-have for a WOW character. They can enormously increase your attack as well as defense capabilities in any kind of raids, battles, dungeons or PvP type.

Let's begin this WoW pet guide. There are a variety of pet types. Bear in mind that not all of these beasts are tamable. You would need to select from these species like Hyenas, Sporebats, Bats, Spiders, Dragonhawks, Serpents, Crocolisks, Wolves, Scorpids, Crabs, Wind Serpents, Ravagers, Cats, Warp Stalkers, Raptors, Carrion Birds, Turtles, Owls, Boars, Tallstriders, Nether Rays and Bears. Among these pets, cats are the mostly chosen basing from observation. Bears are also good pets to have.

Just like the real pet in our world, it is a necessity for you to feed your pet to keep it loyal to you and happy to accompany you in your quests. By feeding your pet, you will earn loyalty points. Your pet’s happiness is an essential factor when it comes to dealing and absorbing damages fro you during bloody battles. It is a good investment to keep your pet well fed and happy.

You can get a pet from buying it on a NPS or by acquiring it from a quest. Some are also extinct because they are player made. For Hunters, pets usually are classified into three functionalities such as Tanks, DPS and middle-of-the-road pets. For every category, you will learn that there are many advantages as well as disadvantages.

Speaking in general for any WOW characters, there are basically three broad categories of pets. These are Companion pets, Combat pets and Guardian pets.  Companion pets are, as the term implies, are those that always visible partners to you as a character. They can be purchased or could be picked up as a drop. “Mounts” which are being acquired by players while playing World of Warcraft can also be considered as pets.

Combat pets, on the other hand are very useful to pet dependent characters like Warlocks, Hunters who are naturally nature lovers and also Death Knights, Druids and Priests.

There are also pets in the World of Warcraft which are classified as “Guardians”.  These beasts are the types which can not be controlled. However, they can be summoned at will. These creatures also come to aid you when the need arises.

Opposite to the Guardians are companion pets. These pets are the tamable ones. Basically, they just follow the character around which increases its visible appeal. Other names of these pets are Follow Based pets or Vanity pets.

If a character wants to decrease the time needed for him to move from one place to another, they can basically ride on them. This idea can be of great benefit to the character especially long distance travels.

Speaking of damage absorbing and damage inflicting capabilities of pets, here are some specific pets to choose for respective roles. Wolves, Raptors, Carrion Birds, Core Hounds, Hyenas, Wasps and Tall striders are the best pets to choose to inflict great damage as well as slay a great number of enemies.

For the type of character vulnerable to damage, choose from Worms, Turtles, Bears, Crabs, Rhinos and Gorillas. These pets can save you from large amounts of damage as well as death due to their absorbing capabilities.
